IMPORTANT NOTE TO RESIDENTS, HOMEOWNERS & LANDLORDS

2012 Spring Clean

The annual Spring Clean will take place on Saturday, 12th May at 2pm. Refuse sacks will be distributed at the green at the top of Rocwood Drive. Please support your community by playing a part in the clean up effort.

Grass Cutting Charge

Grass cutting has recommenced in recent weeks in Grange Manor

The Council has stated that the €100 Household Charge introduced this year does not cover the cost of grass cutting in private estates

In order for the existing contractual arrangement to be maintained in Grange Manor, the annual donation of €40 must remain

A widespread door-to-door collection as carried out by the GMRA in previous years is not planned for 2012

We would ask that householders act in good faith and contribute by either of the following payment options before 31st May 2012:

PayPal: go to http://www.grangemanor.org/store/ select street name and house

By cash or cheque (simply email info@grangemanor.org to arrange to have a
volunteer call to you at a convenient time, or contact the GMRA representative
closest to you to arrange payment)

If Grange Manor residents do not contribute at the same level as they have in the past the following may occur:

Suspension of grass cutting in 2012 until the fund is restored to the required level

Loss of the current grass cutting contractor, Evergreen Landscapes, who have offered a very keen price to the estate for the past two years

The GMRA may be dismantled

The main focus of the current GMRA has been to address common interests of residents, particularly grass cutting. Achievements to date include:

Grass maintenance, collection and management

Repair of the boundary fence in Asgard Grove/Drive

Annual spring cleans

Securing council grants to help the maintenance fund

Representing residents at council meetings (e.g. the Magenta Grove disruption in 2010)

Your suggestions and ideas on any of the above are always welcome. Please email info@grangemanor.org to share your thoughts.

This year the residents' association has created an online payments facility so that residents can pay their yearly contribution towards the estate maintenance online. This way it's safer for everyone involved; volunteers won't have to walk around the estate with large sums of money. Also it helps with not needing to have the exact amount at hand or for the volunteers, the exact change.

To pay your annual contribution towards the estate maintenance do the following:

1) Click on the store link at the right of the page
2) Click on your street name
3) Click add to cart opposite the your address
4) At the bottom of the page you will then see a shopping cart with a checkout option to pay with PayPal (PayPal is a trusted and secure service but ensure that you are on paypal.com before submitting any personal details)
5) Once payment has been completed you will receive an e-mail receipt confirming your donation

Without the continued support of all residents, we will not be able to maintain the shared green areas of the estate nor other maintenance that occurs from time to time, such as fences, etc. If you have any questions or would prefer to pay by cheque or cash, please e-mail residents@grangemanor.org and a volunteer from the association will be in touch with you a.s.a.p.

Thank you

The annual Grange Manor Spring Clean took place last Saturday, 14th April. Unlike previous years, we were fortunate to have fine weather, and a large number of residents came out to give their support and lend a hand. Gloves and sacks were distributed amongst residents, and more than 20 sacks of rubbish and gravel left over from the winter cold snap were collected. These were removed by Waterford City Council first thing on Monday morning.

Many thanks to Waterford City Council for their cooperation. Also, thanks to those who came out in their numbers to give a hand. It was great to see the event gathering momentum with many families turning up and getting kids involved too. If you didn’t have the opportunity to come along, April is Spring cleaning month, so you can further the good work by keeping your garden and the area around your house tidy and rubbish-free. Many hands indeed make light work.

It's that time of year again and volunteers from the residents' association will soon be knocking on your door to ask for a contribution to the maintenance fund for the estate. The estate is looking very good at the moment and is being very well cared for by the contractor hired to cut the grass. Your contribution to the maintenance fund is essential to help keep the estate looking this way. Without it, we would not be able to hire a contractor to cut the grass and we would be living in a jungle.

We are very lucky, living in Grange Manor, to have so many houses in the estate. This means that we can keep the annual contribution very low, less than a Euro a week per house to keep the estate looking pristine all year round. Our recommended contribution is much lower than that requested in many other estates throughout Waterford City. However, we can only do this if everyone contributes to the fund.

If you are renting your home then don't forget to ask for a receipt from the person collecting the money so that you can give it to your landlord and get a refund. Alternatively, please have your landlord's contact details to hand so that they can be contacted to arrange contribution to the fund.

Everyone on the residents' committee is a volunteer, who gives their time for no reward, so please be aware that they have no personal gain from collecting money. It's all in the interest of keeping our estate looking good. If you want to send a cheque or contact us about the contribution then please e-mail info@grangemanor.org to make arrangements.

The Grange Manor Residents Association has organised a Spring Clean, to take place on Saturday April 9th 2011 at 1500h. Spring Clean is an iniative run by An Taisce in conjunction with local councils – it encourages communities to get together and keep their areas clean and litter free. A number of waste disposal sacks and protective gloves are given by An Taisce to the residents association and the City Council will also collect the waste collected, for free, after the event. This is a great opportunity to help tidy up the estate and remove annoyances such as litter that has been blowing around green areas for some time now or snagging the plants in your garden.

Help the volunteers by tidying up your front garden and immediate area outside your home so that rubbish can be easily packed into waste sacks. A little effort by everyone will make this event a huge success! Bags, gloves, etc will be handed out at 1500h sharp, on the green at Rocwood Walk.

Winter has hit hard in Grange Manor this week. The hill of Rocwood Drive is causing much trouble for residents getting in and out of the estate and it would be advisable if people could avoid any unnecessary trips via car. The parking situation on Rocwood Drive and Rocwood Walk on Sunday night was somewhat understandable but also quite careless. While people no doubt wish to avoid coming back up the hill in the morning, some residents abandoned cars, partially blocking driveways, and Rocwood Walk had cars parked at either side of its entry - making it rather difficult to gain access should the emergency services have been called to a house in the area. The residents' association would urge people to exercise due caution when choosing a parking space and to remember that people live at the front of the estate too - maneuvering in and out of frozen driveways, with cars parked close either side, is a recipe for an accident.

While the footpaths seem relatively safe there are reports of some very icy areas, mostly in the hilly regions of the estate (Rocwood Drive, Magenta). With the conditions set to continue, according to the forecast, we hope that all residents will stay safe and accident free. Hopefully the council spreader will be around soon to give the estate a helping hand.

The great community spirit can also be seen with residents helping to push each other up the hill. Some people with better grip are driving to the top and walking back to help others less fortunate with traction. Other residents have been chipping away, with shovels, at the ice near speedbumps, to help give the cars that little extra grip going over the bump. If everyone continues to help each other like this, we'll beat these harsh conditions without any trouble!

The Grange Manor Residents' Association annual general meeting will take place on Tuesday November 23rd at 7:30 p.m. in the Farronshoneen Community Hall beside the Ardkeen Credit Union (and most probably the voting station of all Grange Manor residents). N.B. we have booked the sports hall of the centre for the meeting and have been asked to ensure that nobody wears high heels less the floor will be damaged. Please abide by this request if you are attending the meeting.

Items on the agenda will include a review of the year 2010, tasks ahead for 2011, and the election of a committee for the coming year.

The residents' association would like to take this opportunity thank everyone who contributed to the estate maintenance fund this year, to help keep our estate looking good and also those who showed up to lend a hand on the Spring Clean earlier in the year. While a committee of people is elected every year to help coordinate tasks and deal with the council on various matters, it is ultimately everyone in the estate, working together, that provides for any success. If we don't all help each other then life becomes very difficult for everyone that wants to make a difference.

It has recently been brought to the attention of the Residents' Association that a house in Grange Manor was broken into and a car stolen from the property. This is a terribly traumatic event for anyone to suffer and is very unsettling to say the least.

This is just a note to encourage all residents to be on the lookout for anything suspicious and to double check home security, lock doors and windows when leaving your home. Sadly it doesn't make for comfortable living but this is the world that we are faced with.

If you see anyone acting suspiciously or anything that just doesn't look right then it's better to be safe than sorry. The local Gardaí can be contacted on 051-305300 and we would encourage residents to keep and eye out for each other so that any events like this can be avoided in the future.
